The Rockin’ Appalachian Mom Project is an organization committed to providing physical, financial and emotional support for the children and families of the Appalachian Mountain area of the United States.  We are Moms ourselves working to help other Moms make a difference in their own children’s lives - community-to-community, family-to-family, Mom-to-Mom, and kid-to-kid.

THANK YOU WHOLE FOODS MARKET & RAWL PRODUCE

All of us with the Rockin' Appalachian Mom Project (RAMP) would like to thank
Whole Foods Market® and Rawl Produce for helping make a dream come true!  These two organizations and more than 60 of their employees recently took time out from their busy lives to travel to Inez, Kentucky to help RAMP.  These efforts have given this community something to stand up and be proud of.

During one amazing day, RAMP, Whole Foods Market, Rawl Produce and numerous local residents volunteered
their time to build a vegetable garden and chicken coop; in addition, more than two 53' semi tractor trailer trucks full of donated food from the Whole Foods Market mid-Atlantic region stores were distributed to local food banks and schools - providing enough nutritious food for hundreds of families for several months.  This was an amazing day for all of us -- and we hope this positive personal experience will stay with every person that volunteered their time.  It is RAMP's mission to empower moms, improve nutrition, and pay it forward -- through this short trip, these amazing people did all that and more!

Stay tuned for more exciting news about the partnership between RAMP, Whole Foods and Rawl Produce.

R.A.M.P. Receives Proclamation from Governor of Kentucky

(see Events & News pages for more details)

R.A.M.P. Needs Immediate Help to Feed School Children on Weekends and Stock the Homecoming Church Food Pantry

Schools in Martin County, Kentucky have an immediate need for Backpack Snack funds to purchase and send home a healthy meal with children in their backpacks on Fridays so the kids have something to eat on the weekend.  Many children in Martin County only eat meals at school.  When they are home over the weekend, their families often cannot afford to buy food, so the schools try to send food home with the kids.

Homecoming Food Pantry – R.A.M.P. is working with the Homecoming Church, up in a “hollow” of the hills of Martin County, to help them sustain their food pantry with healthy food.  The food pantry serves more than 150 families that live in the remote mountain area.  The food pantry costs approximately $25,000 per year to stock with healthy food.  R.A.M.P. is also working with a farmer to provide fresh fruit and vegetables to the food pantry and work with the members of the Homecoming Church to build a community garden.
